Postcards from New Orleans

Last month, I was incredibly fortunate to be able to visit New Orleans on a work trip. It’s a place that has always been on my wishlist and so I was so excited to explore the incredible history of the City, meet some of its locals and experience the atmosphere the town had to offer.

The motto for New Orleans is the French saying below – translated to ‘Let The Good Times Roll’ – and this was most certainly the attitude I adopted wholeheartedly whilst visiting this fascinating piece of the US.

Throughout my short 3 days in the City, I experienced a spiritual consultation from a Voodoo Goddess and stood in the home of a former grizzly murder, almost came eye-to-eye with an actual tornado, ate my first ever frogs legs, ate too many jumbo shrimps, got drunk listening to an authentic jazz trio, saw Nicholas Cage’s future place of burial and ate THE best puddings of my entire life. It’s safe to say I loved the city and will 100% be back.

Here’s a snapshot of some memories from my time in NOLA, where the people are incredible, the daquiris are sold in drive-thrus and the music never stops playing…

(Below: This is Muriel’s Restaurant – absolutely gorgeous place with pretty decor and even prettier food – pop this place on your list when you’re next in town and make sure you grab a drink in the upstairs lounge overlooking Jackson Square).

(Below: This is, bizarrely, one day where actor Nicolas Cage will be buried. He’s a huge lover of Louisiana and NOLA and has made strict instructions that it is here in this bespoke triangular tomb that he wants to be buried…)

I couldn’t recommend a trip to New Orleans highly enough – visit here for all details on booking a trip to NOLA. With a heavy heart I left the city for another adventure but little did I know there were even more weird and wonderful things in store for me.  I’ll be popping up snapshots shortly from visiting Louisiana’s River Parishes and Plantation Country – stay tuned wanderlusters!

Have you ever been to New Orleans?
