OKU Hotel, Kos

OKU Hotel, Kos

So 2020 has been a year so far….! As we’ve all been rooted back to our respective home turfs due to COVID-19 for the past few months, for me personally this time of self isolation has called for self reflection (as I’m sure it has for many). Due to the slower pace of recent months, we’re able to understand what we really are thankful for and one of the things that stands out for me is definitely travel and what an important role it plays in my life. As the world starts to (safely) start to wake up again and the possibility of travel isn’t so far away now, I wanted to revisit some incredible corners of the world that I had yet to share on here.

Hopefully providing some inspiration for future trips and ones that will no doubt be enjoyed all the more as we know never to take our freedom to travel, to explore and to dream, for granted.

Let me introduce you to a stunning hotel on the Greek island of Kos. OKU has been renamed recently after changing ownership from Casa Cook hotels (which is what it was called when we visited last August). If you’re looking for a place to truly while away leisurely hours spent doing nothing but sunbathing, reading, eating, drinking and doing sunrise yoga, then this is the place for you…

OKU is adults-only and so it’s not an option for a family holiday but is a great spot for a romantic getaway for a few days. This incredibly stylish hotel has a few different areas that works really well to feel like there is quite a lot to do ‘on site’. At the entrance to the property you’ll find a beautiful reception with a wide expanse of seating areas that transforms into an outdoor cinema screening area at night (the dream). The heart of the hotel centres around the stunning pool area, flanked by the open restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and a long, beautiful bar area that runs around the back of the pool making for a stylish communal hangout. Here is where you’ll spend most of your time! Behind the bar is a backdrop of sand dunes, making you feel like you’re suddenly in a completely different environment as a rickety old wooden walkway takes you down to a completely private and secluded beach, exclusive for the hotel guests with its own bar.

The hotel rooms are all created with an industrial nod to the design, balanced with softer tones and touches (such as linen bedding and rattan lighting) which are reminiscent of hotels in Tulum or Mykonos. Most of the rooms come with their own terraces complete with hammocks for the ultimate in relaxation.

You can now book in again for a stay at OKU – so why not make your first post-lockdown holiday this stunning spot of relaxation on a beautiful Greek island. Safe and happy travels!
