Marrakech was always one of the cities I’d had on my list to visit and so when it came to taking my sister away for her 30th birthday, the Moroccan city of colour, culture and style seemed like the perfect choice.
I’d weighed up staying in a resort-style hotel versus a riad and decided on a riad after much online searching! A riad is a traditional Moroccan house, centred around an internal courtyard – I settled on Riad BE for our little long weekend stay and on arrival, was so happy with this choice of an incredible little oasis hidden away in the labyrinthine streets of the old town medina.
Riad BE truly feels like it’s in the heart of Marrakech as it’s located just off the middle of the Souk and so the whole property mirrors the history, traditions, culture and art of the City.
The ethos of Riad BE is to relax, to ponder and to be present. Little signs appear all over the property reminding you to ‘be present’, ‘be calm’ and ‘go with the flow’ – little instructions that are able to put into practice in such a tranquil setting. I’ve never stayed anywhere that was so calming – despite there being 10 rooms in the riad, the place was so quiet and it never felt like there were many other guests in the place. Come and take a look around for yourself…prepare to be inspired around every corner with the exquisite design and style of the property…
Riad BE is easily bookable via Booking.com and I couldn’t recommend it enough – it’s worth noting that like many places in Marrakech, it’s dry (no alcohol) but that wasn’t an issue for us at all. They also include breakfast every morning in your room booking and if you wish, you can dine on the terrace or in your room for dinner, all washed down with a fresh Moroccan mint tea – perfection!
