I’ve recently discovered the beauty of Aesop’s skincare brand and have been building up my collection of products.
I don’t know about you but I find it pretty intimidating walking into a store and being faced with hundreds of different types of products, not knowing which ones are really right for you or your skin type. If you need help, check out this webpage. I popped into my local store on Westbourne Grove one sunny Saturday and got some actual advice from the lovely sales woman. I personally have combination skin – which is quite a common skin type so I have a peek at this web-site and look for the perfect facial – but this mix of products for a mini mid-week facial should work for most skin types to really rejuvenate your skin and help rid it of the weekly pollution, especially if you also live in a big city…
As I’m nearing the big 3-0 I’ve really started to realise the importance in skincare and taking care of your skin. I’ve started making some time once or twice a week to indulge in a little ‘me’ time and carry out this little at home facial. Pour yourself a lovely bubble bath first too if you’re feeling extra decadent 😉
Step 1: Make sure you’ve taken off all of your make-up from the day and start with this exfoliating paste that will remove all impurities and freshen up your face. Dab a bit on your face and neck and massage in slowly – if you work minimal pressure under the cheekbones in circular motions it can feel like a real facial. Once you’re all done, rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Step 2: Next up it’s time for the actual face mask. Apply this Parsley Seed masque (not too thick but enough of a layer that covers your whole face) and leave this on for anywhere from 10-15 mins. Use this time to light your favourite candles, pop the kettle on and make a brew of your favourite herbal tea / pour yourself a nice glass of wine. It’s a mid-week pamper session after all!
Step 3: Wash off the masque with warm water and a flannel/towel. The final stage is to use a few pumps of the Blue Chamomile Facial Hydrating masque – this is a light moisturising cream that again you can really enjoy dabbing all over your face. Dab lightly and then keep this on for about 10 mins or so. Flick through one of your favourite books and enjoy that tea / glass of wine while doing so. Following that, just rub in the masque so that it’s entirely blended into your face, really feeding your skin and hydrating it just before bedtime.
^ Current favourite candles from Diptyque, Soho Home (picked this up during our recent stay at Soho Farmhouse) and my favourite scented candle on earth from Hotel Costes in Paris. ^
^ Some current favourite reads from Millie Mackintosh, Garance Dore and Gretchen Rubin – I snapped up this version from one of my new favourite stationary stores in Covent Garden, Kikki-K ^
A good tip I learnt recently is that the skin cells (from head to toe) are regenerated most from 10pm-2am at night, so doing this treatment around 10pm is the best time to ensure your face is really rehydrating and taking in the goodness. I like to finish off my routine with a spritz of my favourite perfume (Jo Malone’s Peony and Blush Suede is a steady favourite) – there’s something so nice about putting on a little perfume before bed. Slater your lips to rehydrate overnight in your favourite lip balm and pop some Sleep Balm on your pillow. Et voila – your very own at-home pamper session, saving you the hefty costs of a spa visit once or twice a week!
Let me know if you too have any beauty rituals, or if there’s any amazing beauty products I’m missing out on.
