So I haven’t spent too much time in Spain, but this year I’m lucky enough to be visiting it on three separate occasions so I’m looking forward to getting to know more of the country (and discover more and more delicious tapas!). First up of my trips was a weekend in Seville.
I was visiting for work and our trip luckily incorporated visits of some of the incredible architecture of Seville, meaning just after three short days I managed to get a real feel for this gorgeous pocket of Spain. With Orange and Lemon trees everywhere, delicious food and wine, great shopping and ice cream coloured buildings, it’s the perfect destination for a long weekend away – seriously accessible in a short flight from anywhere in the UK.
As always I took farrrrr too many photos so I’ll be doing a separate post this week on the hotels we stayed in during the trip (both amazing in their own ways.) But for now I’ll take you on a tour of some of the sights we saw – it’s a long one so maybe grab a coffee…
An absolute must if you’re in Seville is a visit to the Royal Alcazar Palace and Gardens. Not only is this palace a World Heritage site and an absolute awe-inspiring piece of architecture with astonishing details at every turn, there’s an added bonus if you’re a Game of Thrones fan. This is the exact location for the setting for Dorne in Season 5 of the show (see if you can recognise any of the locations below!).
It’s the perfect city to just walk around and with it’s lovely temperate climate (we had 20 degrees and sunshine in mid-Feb), you can just amble, explore and stumble upon a little tapas et vinos bar or one of the many ceramic tile shops to pick up some homeware to brighten up your home back in the UK.
One place you must visit for food is El Pinton. A stylish tapas and wine bar / restaurant it had some of the best food I’ve eaten in ages (make sure you try the truffle risotto and also the tuna tartare – hands down the best I’ve ever tried). It’s a great spot for a long lazy Spanish-style lunch and come night time it’s one of Seville’s hottest new night spots with an in-house DJ providing the soundtrack to your dinner. As this is Spain, don’t forget it doesn’t get busy for dinner until at least 10pm – we were there at 8.30pm and it was super quiet!
Our first night ended with some espresso martinis and g&t’s at the stunning rooftop bar of the EME Hotel – overlooking the spectacular Cathedral. Another must if you’re there for the weekend. It’s so simple to hop on a 2 hour flight and I can’t wait to go back already, this time making sure I take an extra suitcase for hams and ceramics! If you’ve been before and have any other must do’s in the City I’d love to know.

I knew you would love it, such a great long weekend city to visit. Definitely need to go back soon, family trip maybe? Super pics too. Xx
I adore Seville. I was lucky enough to live there for a year or so and can’t help but go back as often as possible!
