Every now and then you come across a new restaurant where you just know, it’s going firmly on the ‘favourites of all time’ list. First impressions are everything and DISHOOM, just off Granary Square in King’s Cross, makes a pretty impressive first impression.
Focusing on authentic Indian street food, it’s all small plates, grilled meats, spices, THE best calamari I’ve ever tasted, local Indian pale ales and a setting that can rival the best warehouse space in the meatpacking district of New York – and it’s all a stones throw from King’s Cross station. With incense burning at every turning (and even in the toilets!) and open kitchens, this place also smells like a dream and provides the ultimate in interior inspiration (just look at that bar, the floor tiles, the wall colours…)
While working your way through the menu, you can order one of the tipples in the form of a pale ale or a cocktail – highly recommend the Gimlet and the Bollybellini; delicious. I know this post should include food pictures but sadly, we were just too excited to scoff all of the incredibly delicious dishes that my camera didn’t get a look in…but trust me, if you haven’t been to Dishoom and you love the flavours of Indian cuisine, you MUST put this place on your list.
Find all the menus and location information on their website, or follow them on social media @dishoom. There’s also two other London locations in Covent Garden and Shoreditch but I’d highly recommend the setting of the King’s Cross one for a date, birthday or just catching up with mates. Enjoy!
