Every Sunday morning should start with eggs – and Liv and I found the perfect start to our second day in Paris at Cafe De Flore, as we cradled our coffees and teas and enjoyed every bite of their signature eggs and bacon dish. I will definitely be recreating this one pan recipe back home in London!
Suitably fuelled, we set off in the gorgeous sunny weather for a walk – our aim solely to get lost, maybe end up somewhere near the Eiffel Tower for a swing on the carousel and to hunt down a good cheeseboard. Six hours later, our mission was complete as we hopped in our Uber on the way to the airport, sad to be leaving Paris and heading back to a rainy London and a busy week of work ahead of us.
As we wandered south of Saint-Germain-des-Pres to Montparnasse, I remembered I had seen on Instagram a viewing point somewhere near there; hence why we found ourselves winding up the staircase and up a scarily windy elevator to the top of the Tour Montparnasse – with THIS view. Aboslutely incredible. In the summer they also have a champagne bar open up there (which sadly was closed when we arrived) so a gorgeous spot for a bit of romance if you’re in Paris with a loved one.
Next up it was a stroll down to the bottom of the Eiffel Tower where we beelined for the Carousel and had about 3 goes in a row, obviously – still little kids at heart! However, we felt marginally more adult picking up our Vin Chaud to accompany the rest of our stroll along the river Seine (all of the spinning had peaked our appetites and finding a cafe in a lovely spot for a cheeseboard was becoming more and more necessary…)
A favourite find of the day that I wanted to share was this small Le Labo store – they make the most exquisite smelling candles and scents (you can also get a personal scent made for a lovely unique gift idea) and the store is a masterclass in merchandising. You could easily be in Lower East Side Manhattan rather than in the centre of Paris.
They have a great couple of stores in London too so check out HERE for more details if you want to pay them a visit. Tip; the ‘Santal 26’ candle smells absolutely incredible; I highly recommend a purchase!
We said a reluctant ‘Au Revoir’ to Parie after stocking up in Laduree on Macaroons for the journey home.
Until next time France…
