What is one to do on a cold Saturday or Sunday in January? I recommend heading down to PARLOUR in Kensal Rise – a little haven of a pub/restaurant where all of the weekend papers are at your disposal, you can have either smashed avocado or a huge roast lunch and you can even eat as many slices of cake and toast as you like at the fill-your-boots ‘Bread/Cake station’.
Nestled on the unassuming ‘Regent Street’ – literally opposite Kensal’s most notorious venue Paradise by Way of Kensal Green (another favourite), you’ll find PARLOUR. As soon as you walk in, the friendly, neighbourhood vibe is instantly relaxing, aided by the lovely bubbly waitresses who will show you to your seat and make sure you’ve got a warm cuppa or a mimosa in your hand before you can say ‘weekend hangover’.
Decor is shabby chic meets your favourite local pub and the menu has a sense of humour too, which is always nice. I won’t spoil it but just read through the menu properly if you go. I plumped for the Full English (presented rather prettily and tasted even better) while D went for the Cow Pie, commenting it was one of the best pies he’d ever eaten.
Yes it’s cold at the moment but there’s a great beer garden outside which will be ideal in the summer months. But for now, I couldn’t recommend a better place for a cosy weekend afternoon. The bar is also well stocked for a cocktail session on a Thursday or Friday night so make sure you head down if you’re in the area.

Love this place, though haven’t been for brunch yet, just lots of boozy evenings! I do love the presentation of the breakfast though.

Great piece! I went here a few years ago and absolutely loved it. They did a great roast and awesome apple crumble. Mmmm, such a lovely place. I’m sure one of the bar staff told us they have a toaster out in the mornings for you to make your own toast – for free! I wonder if they still do that?
