“Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like…” – Mark Twain
He was a wise chap, that Mark Twain. I have many small vices in life but one of these is most definitely Italian food. Mozzarella, burratta, salad caprese, pasta, meatballs……the list is endless. Italian food – GOOD Italian food – really does make everything right in the world.
Luckily, two of my closest friends share my view and so for Jade’s birthday we were booked into San Carlo Cicchetti on Piccadilly. Cicchetti prides itself on having an Italian chef, an Italian director and Italian waiters, so safe to say it’s pretty authentic.
Having reserved a table on a bustling Thursday evening, the place was buzzing by 8pm and we were offered complimentary prosecco on arrival at our table in honour of the birthday girl.
Each season Cicchetti launches a new, expertly crafted menu. While still retaining the favourites, the new dishes feature the freshest and best seasonal ingredients sourced from markets in Milan. Taking inspiration from tapas style eating, everything on the menu comes on small plates making it the perfect choice for a birthday or big dinner out with friends or family. We scoffed a variety of dishes, all washed down with some more prosecco in honour of celebrating Jade’s milestone birthday.
One tip – you should most definitely order the small mixed plate of puddings…cielo!
