Five flower workshops to try in London

Five flower workshops to try in London

2016 seems to be a particularly botanical loving year in London! Instagram feeds are filled with people’s weekly visits Petersham Nurseries, stop offs at foliage-filled hotspot Palm Vaults or prized shots of mini cacti from Clapham Common Market or Prick in Dalston.

If you’re looking for inspiration, there’s a huge wealth of workshops available for plant and flower lovers across the City for all budgets and here’s five brilliant workshops you can try out right here in London.

Jam Jar Flowers

Kennington is home to this gorgeous flower shop run by Brixton local Melissa Richardson and i-D mag designer Jocelyn Lloyd. JamJar Flowers hosts bespoke courses and you can book into their autumn-themed Introduction to Floristry class this month  or set up your own classes to suit your requirements.

Grace and Thorne

Grace and Thorne has two flower shops in Soho and East London. It’s in their Hackney studio that on the last Thursday of every month, they host a floral workshop where you’re told to just bring along yourself and your creativity. If you’re extra green fingered, they also offer classes in how to make Macrame Hangers and Terrarium making – and these make beautiful gifts if you can nail how to make them.

Wild Wood London

Florist and former London fashion designer Charlotte Wood runs Wild Wood London based in Wandsworth. Her full day courses cover four areas including making wild hand tied bouquets, terrariums, fresh flower wreaths and all the basics of creating a flower crown. If you just want to focus on one area however, she can run bespoke classes for you too.

Rebel Rebel

Rebel Rebel host their workshops near Bethnal Green and cover everything from classes in creating wedding bouquets & buttonholes to Christmas garlands or general basics of flower styling. You’ll be guided through every step of the way and provided with all the equipment and materials you need – including wine and nibbles (very important). They have a variety of classes on from now until December.

Indeco Wedding Flowers London

Don’t worry – you don’t need to be heading down the aisle to do a workshop with Indeco Wedding Flowers London. Based at the stunning Town Hall Hotel in East London, Indeco offers classes in making flower crowns, jam jars, christmas wreaths and they run hen parties too. They’re all around two hours long and the most affordable of the options at £50 per person including drinks and nibbles.
