Dalloway Terrace, The Bloomsbury

Dalloway Terrace, The Bloomsbury

There’s a serious hidden little gem of a restaurant sitting pretty in the centre of London, just behind the concrete jungle that is Tottenham Court Road.

Dalloway Terrace is part of the lovely hotel The Bloomsbury, a good sized terrace outdoor-but-feels-like-indoor restaurant. The girls and I met up for a Tuesday night dinner and catch up, and a few bottles of wine some hours later we left full, a bit tipsy and with a new favourite meeting place on our London lists. It’s themed around the literary history of the Bloomsbury area and there’s Virginia Woolf touches everywhere – even the bill comes in a copy of one of her books (a nice touch for a total bookworm like me!).

Perfect for this strange mid-season weather, if it’s a bit cold out there’s heaters, a strong wind cover and blankets provided and in the summer this will be just gorgeous. The decor is simple and becoming of its environment, so fairy lights twinkle out of the foliage all over the walls of the restaurant and soft green and neutral toned cushions and blankets accent the brickwork…

The menu is mostly French fare, with staples such as Coq Au Vin and Steak Frites top choices, but there’s also a daily special (the girls had the lamb rump and couscous – delicious but quite a small portion so get sides). We were having too much fun catching up and scoffing so I only took the below two pictures of the food but you get the idea! I wanted to steal this mini pot my Coq Au Vin came in immediately (which was perfect – the chicken fell apart in the sauce and our lovely friendly waiter served it to me the French way on top of sourdough bread so you can mop up all of the sauce; delicious.)

You can book really easily on their website via Bookatable and it really wasn’t hugely busy, so does feel like a bit of a hidden gem. Quick, get there before everyone else finds out our little secret!

I love this post, your pictures are gorgeous 🙂 I went to Dalloway Terrace recently for afternoon tea and loved it, and I know exactly what you mean when you say it’ll be perfect for summer 🙂
